Hey guys, so I'm looking to buy a budget camera. I'm no expert with cameras but then again I'm no novice either! I wanted people's opinions on this camera, the Sony A58 from the SLT range, and whether you guys think it would be a good investment. I heard it uses different mirror technology (SLT), though there's a rumour it struggles with light reaching the sensor? Please help me out before I make the purchase!

Thanks, Simplex

P.s The camera on the official Sony page can be found here: www.sony.co.uk/electronics/interchangeable-lens-cameras/slt-a58

I think that the Nikon D3200 is a much better choice.
It isn't worse than the Sony Alpha A58 but it is cheaper.
Nikon D3200 costs approximately 350$, whereas the Sony Alpha A58 costs 485$.

The Nikon D3200 has 4,2 megapixels more, whereas the Sony has a slightly better ISO reach (but you will never want to go at its maximum, as those photographs will hardly be usable).
Further does the Sony Alpha A58 have 4 focus points more than the Nikon D3200.

Anyhow, the Sony Alpha A58 isn't worth spending 135$ more on for the same level of camera.

Something to remember, which is much more important than everything I've said above: lenses are way more important than the body.

Invest 2/3 in lenses and 1/3 in the body.
