Messing around with my Rebel XTi and trying to do some Depth of Field effects :O

not that clean, i'd make sure you focus more towards the middle of the clock

Yeah, I was having difficulty getting the right parts in focus. This one turned out the best imo because the word "Fossil" was readable and not blurry as fk. That being said, I think the DoF was a bit too shallow, since parts of the foreground got blurred as well as the background. I'll have to work on it some more :P

It really looks like your lens isn't clean. The focus is too soft, even for an open DOF. Otherwise, it's got really nice composition. One thing I'd recommend is better exposure. Your shadows look like they've lost almost all their texture, which is really common when taking photos of subjects like these. Shadows and highlights should still have details and tones just like any other colours. :)

Yeah, it's a 9 year old camera that was my parents before it was mine... Needless to say, they didn't take very good care of it lol :P

I need to work more on my lighting in general, not just in this piece. I don't spend enough time doing setup to get myself a controlled environment, so my shots always come out messy and inconsistent.
