    Users Awards

Posted 10 October 2013 - 02:01 AM

We want One Canvas to be a fun, open, and engaging community to foster ideas and creative knowledge. In order to do so rules are needed to maintain order. Below is an extensive list of our views on certain issues that may arise. Be aware that consequences and punishments are at the sole discretion of staff member who attends to your incident. Keeping within the following policies will provide for an optimal experience of all One Canvas user!

Adult Content:  To a degree, we allow for adult content to be posted, this my include things like partial nudity (non-exposure of genitalia), however, we prefer to keep the site at a level of maturity that is reasonablely acceptable for all users. With this in mind, if you create a thread that may not be appropriate for users under the age of 16 you should post the traditional “NSFW” (Not Safe For Work) in the thread title, as well as post all content that could be deemed inappropriate in [spoiler] tags as to hide it out of general view.

To be clear on what is not allowed keep away from posting the following: nudity, pornography, hentai, or any images that show genitalia.

One Canvas staff will have the final say on any content we deem to be inappropriate for the site and may remove content as we see fit. Users may report any content they find inappropriate or without the NSFW tag by using the “Report” button and filling out the proper form.

Advertising Policy:  We allow people to post content for sites they like as long as it does not constitute spam/disruptive advertising. The same goes for posting links in your signature. While we allow you to post links to other sites in your signature, we reserve the right to remove the links if we deem it to be in the best interest of our users. We may also prohibit specific outbound links at our discretion. Any links that pass through a pay per click (or other similar concept) advertising system are prohibited.

Age of Use:  One Canvas intends to provide content for those 16 and older. However, we are bound to get users younger than 16 using our site. Please keep this in mind when posting things. At our discretion we will remove content deemed to be too inappropriate for younger viewers. No part of our site is intended for use by children under the age of 13.

Art Theft:   We will in no way tolerate art theft. No, we don't mean stealing a van Gogh. (Though I am more of a René Magritte fan.) Using someone else's work and claiming it is your own is is not only wrong, it's a violation of law in many countries. One Canvas takes a very strict stance on this and will not hesitate to ban/restrict violators.

Behavior:  Open Canvas is not a strict place. We encourage you to have fun. However, we do expect you to behave in a somewhat mature fashion. Obsessive trolling, cyber stalking. and/or harassment are not something we will tolerate. There is fun, and then there is being a nuisance. We're more than happy to ban anyone who engages in such disruptive behavior. If you are experiencing any disruptive, targeted attacks by a user please report any posts using the proper procedure.

Board Specific:  Some boards may have their own set of rules. You should look for a “Read First” thread before posting in that section. Users are required to be aware of the rules for those specific sections. Failure to follow posted rules may result in warnings, post removals, prohibition of posting in certain areas, or other action.

Illegal Content:  We do not condone or allow the distribution and discussion with regards to illegal content. Posting links and distributing things like warez, cracks, keygens. and/or other piracy related content is not allowed. Our staff may allow discussion pertaining to certain things as long as you do not aid in assisting users to engage in content deemed illegal.

Intense Language:  We don't like censorship. We encourage you to speak freely. Language normally considered profane is allowed on One Canvas within reason. You may use such language in sentences as you wish as long as it does not offend the general population. If a staff member finds your content to be too extreme we will modify your message as we see appropriate. With freedom of speech comes responsibility.

Offensive Content: Any content tha t is intended to directly offend users is strictly prohibited. Content that promotes racism, bigotry, hate, or engages in libelous activity will not be tolerated.

Promotional Links: We're a free community dedicated to improving digital artists. Users are allowed to post links to items that they have created and intend to sell as long the transaction for the product is conducted by a preapproved sites. Be aware that while we may allow you to post for-profit graphics work we do not allow blatant advertising. Furthermore, in most cases users are prohibited from posting links to affiliate marketing programs unless preapproved by site staff.

Signature Rules: We have a very open policy on signatures. However, anything that is found to be disruptive, obnoxious, or annoying (this includes rapidly flashing graphics) may, at the will of the staff, be removed. We do not have a direct policy on signature size (though the system will limit you) but signatures deemed to be too large or that take too long to load may be removed for the sake of forum efficiency.

Spam: As with most forums, this is not tolerated. Posting multiple threads or posts with the same content (or on the same topic), or posting content with no relevance to the thread it is in will not be allowed. The staff will issue warnings in a case like these. Posting links (or advertising) to other sites when it has little relation to the topic in question may result in warnings or temporary banning.

Thread Derailment: Users are encouraged to stay on topic. We don't mind if things take a detour for a while, but please keep things on task and create a new topic for any matters unrelated. Users who purposely attempt to derail topics may be subject to penalties.
