BakaRenders.com White Page Issue

Best Answer SirMoo, 13 September 2014 - 03:34 AM

So... I think I've solved the problem.

The site checks either the language of your computer or general location and gives you the website in your language. It also stores your language in a cookie.

While doing a security upgrade on the site... I noticed that a language file could not transfer over (Every file has permissions on who can read, write, and execute it). What file was broken? The Dutch language! It was set so no one could do anything. I couldn't even access it in the admin until I fixed the permissions. This explains why only Benelux users were having problems since most of you have things set to Dutch.

Thanks to Muppie for testing things for me. :)

Let me explain then... The _data part of the cookie contains various important information regarding your login and account. It then encrypts that data and puts it in a cookie for the session. If we remove that cookie from the site... we'll create problems of not having a site. ;)

Next step is to analyze what in the cookie is actually causing an issue for some... as it's much more than just that silly encoded string.

I do find it incredibly strange... It seriously has to be a coincidence... but still...

dutch.php was the file... >.> System set a cookie for that to be the default language. And since the file couldn't be access due to permissions... Just resulted in a colossal fuck up with no errors.
